The growing social media platform Pinterest has taken on its first UK country manager says the search marketing team at clickmate.
In a move which is evidence of trying to grow its brand outside of the core US market, Sarah Bush has been hired to boost its presence.
Hired in May, Bush is the first member of the Pinterest team hired in the UK. It was then that the platform began to tailor its UK service and include a British English language option. This was accompanied with website and mobile app options. The idea is to make Pinterest more relevant to UK ‘pinners.’
Bush will be based at the company’s San Francisco office and report to the platform’s Head of International, Matt Crystal. He told the media: “The Pinterest community in the United Kingdom has been growing as people find inspiration for the things they love – such as food, fashion, cars, and art.
“As we work to make Pinterest more personalised and relevant for everyone, Sarah is well-positioned to serve as a resource for pinners in the UK.”
Bush will focus on recruiting large numbers of UK bloggers.
Pinterest has carved a niche for itself in a crowded market and reckons that over one million posts are made on its site each day in the UK.
Bush moves to Pinterest from a fashion website called Vestiaire Collective.
